Structural Engineering & Design

A netting system needs a support structure designed for its location and purpose. NETServices helps owners, contractors and design teams plan netting layouts, pole systems, foundations and attachments for sports facilities, landfills, industrial sites and specialty applications.

With over 24 years in business and 35 years of industry experience, we connect practical installation knowledge with project planning and engineering coordination—from the initial site review through construction and long-term maintenance.

Site Planning Before Construction

Planning starts with what the netting needs to contain or exclude, the area to be protected and the way the facility operates. We review proposed height and coverage, pole placement, equipment access, nearby buildings and maintenance needs before settling on a layout.

Site plans, surveys, available soil information and local height restrictions help identify constraints early. Utility locations, property boundaries and access for drilling or lifting equipment also need to be considered when developing the installation approach.

Structural Engineering for Poles & Foundations

Pole height, spacing, netting configuration, wind exposure and soil conditions influence the support system. These factors must be considered together when planning poles, foundations, cables and attachment points.

NETServices coordinates with the project team and engineering partners on the design requirements. The calculations, drawings and professional seals needed for a project depend on its location, jurisdiction and scope. Engineering and permit requirements should be established before fabrication and installation.

Ball Trajectory Studies

For golf and baseball facilities, trajectory studies help evaluate netting height, placement and coverage in relation to play areas and nearby property. The study supports design decisions rather than relying on a standard height for every site.

Existing site conditions and permitted heights can shape the solution. At the PING Golf Testing Facility, system height was limited to 56 feet by zoning and permitting. This is why planning needs to consider both the intended coverage and the constraints of the property.

Construction Coordination & Long-Term Support

A design must also be practical to build and maintain. NETServices plans installation around pole erection, cable layouts, attachment hardware, equipment access and facility operations. We work directly for owners or as part of a larger construction team.

For existing systems, inspection and repair planning can address damaged netting, worn hardware and changes in facility use. Increasing netting height or changing a layout calls for a review of the existing supports rather than assuming they can carry the revised system.

Netting Design Questions

What should I provide for an initial review?

Send the facility location, site photos, approximate length and desired height, the purpose of the netting and any available drawings or soil reports. Include known access restrictions and whether this is a new installation, replacement or expansion.

Can existing poles or structures be reused?

That depends on their condition, original design and the proposed netting configuration. Existing drawings and an assessment of the supports help determine whether reuse, reinforcement or replacement is appropriate.

Can you work with our architect or engineer?

Yes. NETServices works with owners, architects, engineers and general contractors to coordinate netting layout, structural requirements and installation details with the overall project.
